Welcome to the July edition of Cruising Notes, a monthly email message from Clark Haley, Broker for Denison Yacht Sales. My wife, Michelle and I spent 10 Years cruising from Newfoundland Canada the East Coast of the US , the Bahamas, and the eastern and western Caribbean. With almost 50,000 miles under our keel, we’ve seen a few things that I enjoy sharing here and on our travel sites.
I wrote the following passage in the Ship’s Log of our Nordhavn 55, ROAM, on day 5 of a 7 day passage south from NY to Florida. It’s funny how the mind stays busy during the long overnight passages aboard a private yacht where you are all alone with the sea, your crew, and the little ship that surrounds and protects you.
I’m the King of the World!
It’s 2:30 in the morning and I’m on the tail end of my midnight to 3:00 AM shift. Michelle will be coming up soon to take her turn at the helm, but in the meantime, I sit in the “Chair of the All Powerful”, aka the helmsman’s seat, monitoring our progress and feeling in control and omnipotent.
