Buying Assistance

Clark will help you find your Dream Boat/Yacht by:

Interview

Step one in the buying process is to understand your likes, dislikes, budget, timeframe, and plans for your new boat. I like to have a casual conversation or two and learn about you, your boating history, and what gets you excited about boating. I don’t find a questionairre to be particularly helpful since so much of the decision making process is fluid and emotional.

Search

The interview will give me a general idea of what you need and I’ll do several preliminary searches on the MLS system to find a couple of different boats. I’ll provide these listings for you to review and provide feedback. What do you like and hate about each listing? Do you like the general styling? Do the staterooms (bedrooms) and galley (kitchen) meet your expectations? How’s the color? Your feedback will allow me to fine tune the search process. We will continue to search and narrow the options to a few boats and then schedule viewings.

Inspection

Now we go aboard our “finalists” to get hands on with them. We’ll walk through the decks, inspect the holds, lie on the beds, and you will try to envision yourself owning and loving each boat. Some boats you’ll hate, some you’ll be ok with, and then you’ll fall in love with just the right boat!

Review

After getting aboard several boats, we’ll take the time to review the results and hopefully you will feel strongly about one of the options and be ready to make an offer. If none met your expectations, we’ll go back and refine our search until we find your boat!

Offer and Purchase Assistance

Now that we’ve found your next boat, I will help you negotiate with the Seller and arrive at a price that is acceptable to you both. Once the price is accepted, most buyers will want to have the boat surveyed (and insurnace will likely require a survey). We will recommend a reputable hull surveyor and, if applicable, an engine surveyor and we will coordinate with the surveyor(s), seller, and other interested parties to complete the survey. I will also coordinate registration, title, documentation, as needed. If you plan to finance, Denison Yachts has a finance arm that can help you, or you will need to arrange the financing and provide me with bank contact information. I will insure they have the information they need to fund the deal when appropriate.

Training Assistance

You may need assistance getting familiar with your new boat and I will assist in this as well. I will recommend a training captain that can go through the boat with you and train you on safe operation and maintenance. If your insurance company requires a specific training curricula, the Captain that recommend will be able to adjust his training to complete insurance requirements.
